Would it pass a prop firm challenge?

A strategy can make money and still fail a challenge. This tool shows how often a strategy with your numbers would pass a $50K futures evaluation at each firm, and how often it would blow the account first.

  1. Put in the strategy’s numbersPick one of my tests, or move the sliders to match your own trading.
  2. Choose your risk per tradeHow much one losing trade costs you. This matters more than anything else.
  3. Read the barsEach bar is one firm. Green passed, red failed, grey ran out of time.

1 · Your strategy

2 · Your risk

Each loss costs $200. Each win pays $400.

On average a trade makes +$70 (+0.35R). Hitting the $3,000 target takes about 43 trades on average.

3 · What happened in 2,000 practice challenges

8in 10 tries passed

With these numbers the rules barely change the outcome at any firm, so the choice of firm matters less than your risk per trade.

How it works

  1. For each firm, the simulator plays 2,000 pretend challenges from a fresh account.
  2. Every trade is a coin flip weighted by your win rate: a win adds your winner size, a loss takes away your risk.
  3. After every trade and every day, it checks that firm’s rules: the drawdown, the daily loss limit, the consistency rule and the minimum days.
  4. A challenge ends when it hits the profit target and follows every rule (passed), breaks the drawdown (failed), or reaches 60 trading days (ran out of time).
  5. The bars count how each of those 2,000 challenges ended. The same numbers always give the same result.

What it leaves out

  • Real trades include break-evens, partial exits, fees and slippage. Here every trade is a full win or a full loss.
  • Real losing streaks bunch together more than coin flips do, so real pass rates are usually lower.
  • Only the evaluation is simulated. Funded accounts and payouts have different rules; see the rules table.
  • A win rate from 20 trades is a rough guess. Check the sample size on each test before trusting it.

Terms used here

R
The amount you lose on one losing trade. If you risk $200, then 1R = $200 and a 2R winner pays $400.
Drawdown
How far the account can fall before it fails. On these 50K accounts it is $2,000, so that is the real money you have to work with, not $50,000.
End-of-day vs intraday drawdown
The failure line follows your best balance up. End-of-day only moves it after the day closes. Intraday moves it the moment a trade is up, which is harsher.
Consistency rule
Your best day can only be a set share of your total profit. With a 40% rule, one huge day means you must keep trading until the rest of the profit catches up.
Daily loss limit
Lose this much in one day and you are done trading for that day.
Minimum days
The fewest trading days before the firm lets you pass, even if you hit the target sooner.

Rules checked 2026-09-16 from each firm’s help pages. Firms change them often, so check before you buy.
